Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by a staff / representative from Ang Rita Trek & Expedition as you come out at the airport after the immigration formalities. You will be transferred to a hotel. A briefing of the trekking trip will be arranged at a convenient time.
Day 02: Swayambhunath – Kathmandu Durbar Square – Bhaktapur Durbar Square – Nagarkot
After breakfast, you visit Swayambhunath - the Buddhist stupa believed to be 2500 years old towering on the top of a hill commanding sweeping view of Kathmandu valley, the most profound expression of Buddhist symbolism in Nepal and possibly in the world. Next, you visit Kathmandu Durbar Square (old royal palace). Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, boasts for distinctive pagoda roofed temples, stone sculpture and old monuments. The main places you see are nine storey Basantapur Tower with outstanding wood carving, Taleju Temple for its artistic richness and religious importance, Kasthamandap - a huge building believed to be built from the wood of a single tree and Kumari Chwok - abode of living goddess, KUMARI.
After lunch, you visit Bhaktapur Palace Square (old royal palace). Bhaktapur, known as 'the city of devotees', is a museum of medieval art and architecture. You visit Golden Gate - the most beautiful and richly moulded specimen of its kind in the entire world, the Palace of 55 Windows - a unique masterpiece of wood carving, Nyatapole Temple - one of the tallest pagoda temples in Nepal with its massive structure and subtle workmanship. You proceed to Nagarkot. Located at 32 km east of Kathmandu at 2195 meters from the sea level, Nagarkot is a scenic spot renowned for sun rise/set as well as panoramic views of Himalayan range of eastern Nepal including Mt. Everest. The views of the sun setting and yellowish glittering Himalayan range in the north make spectacular panorama . From this point, you can see the small tip of highest mountain of the world Mt. Everest (8848m) in clear weather.
Day 03: Patan – Boudhanath – Pashupatinath Tour
You get ready with your cameras in the dawn to capture the moment of sun rise. The views of the sun rising and shedding light on Himalayan peaks one after another as the sun comes up make magnificent views. After breakfast drive back to Kathmandu and commence sightseeing tour to Patan Durbar Square. Patan - the city of beauty, is the oldest city in Kathmandu valley - full of Buddhist monuments and Hindu temples. You explore Sundarichowk that contains one of the grandest bathtubs in the world ( now closed for renovation), Krishna Temple - one of the masterpieces of stone art of ages. You visit 12th century Hiranyavarna Mahabihar - a still active Buddhist monastery and Mahabuddha - the replica of famous Mahabouddha in Bodh Gaya of India originally built with nine thousand bricks bearing small images of Buddha on each and every nine thousand bricks. Next you visit Tibetan Handicraft Center to observe the art of making carpets by hand.
After lunch, you proceed to Bouddhanath - one of the most fascinating specimens of stupa design and the biggest one in the world surrounded by hundreds of Tibetan Buddhist monasteries scattered around. Bodhnath’s great size and its red, white and blue painted eyes, are more remarkable even than Swayumbhunath give it a striking appearance. You proceed to Pashupatinath, the holiest of all the Shiva Shrines. The site dates back to Fifth and Sixth century with a crematorium on the bank of the holy river the Bagmati surrounded by sacred lingas (phallic symbol) of Lord Shiva.
Day 04: Airport Transfer
We will transfer you to Tribhuwan International Airport for your onward journeys.
